The Garden Design Project – In Detail

Project challenges

Needless to say that this was quite the project in terms of scale. With 70 acres to design and significant structural requirements to be created, this project would require meticulous planning and incremental stages of development.

Project Approach and Contemporary Garden Design Solution

The design of this estate was both challenging and demanding of a wide array of considerations and skillsets. The scope of this project for this estate has developed over the course of four years. We created tiered formal gardens, with the uppermost level featuring classic perennial borders surrounded by tall yew hedging; whilst the lower tiers showcased smaller, more intimate spaces where a Mediterranean feel was introduced by a careful selection of planting and layout.

Colour schemes varied greatly from section to section, and whilst some regions featured vibrant reds and pinks that contrasted against yellow grasses, other areas featured a more muted colour palette – such as the formal top tier gardens where an array of greens and purples were introduced.

A large rock and boulder water cascade was created on an existing pond which was planted in 2013. We created focal points, including a temple which capitalised upon the beautiful views of the home, and framed it with a wildflower meadow – perhaps the epitome of a traditional English garden.

Lastly, we have also embarked on an extensive tree planting programme, with ongoing planting planned for the future.
