Since launching Elemental Designs, Rachel has spent a lot of time working with, and learning from, leading horticultural and landscaping professionals. They continue to offer her much knowledge and inspiration.
Here are some of the prestigious national events Rachel has been involved in, and the leading experts she has worked with:
Hardy’s Plants – winner of 20 consecutive Chelsea Gold medals in the Great Pavilion
Assisted in the build and planting of The Daily Mail gardens at Hampton Court Flower Shows for eight years (2003–2008), working with Rosy Hardy, a specialist in cottage garden perennials and owner of Hardy’s Plants. Due to assist in Hardy’s Plants Main Avenue Chelsea 2016 Flower show garden ‘Forever Freefolk’ celebrating the increasingly rare chalk streams, many of them found in the UK.
Assisted in building two Chelsea gold-medal-winning gardens for Christopher Bradley-Hole. This renowned designer’s style demands extremely precise and detailed construction to the highest standards of craftsmanship.
Jekka’s Herbs – worked at both Chelsea and the Hampton Court Flower Shows in 2009 for Jekka McVicar.
Nigel Dunnett at the University of Sheffield has spent many years researching rain gardens. His work has inspired Rachel to research the practicalities and planting aesthetics involved in creating rain gardens in both large and small spaces. www.nigeldunnett.info
